Field Museum tickets vary depending on if you are coming from out of state or are a resident of Illinois or a Chicago. There are also special packages offered that combine the Field Museum with other attractions in Chicago, as well as ways to visit for free or at a discount.
There are three types of Field Museum tickets sold:
- All Access Pass: includes general admission plus a 3D movie and entrance to all the ticketed exhibitions.
- Discovery Pass: includes general admission plus a 3D movie or choice of one ticketed exhibition.
- General Admission: includes entrance to the museum and all public exhibitions.
Out of State Visitors
- All Access Pass: $40.
- Discovery Pass: $36.
- General Admission: $26.
Illinois Residents
- All Access Pass: $38.
- Discovery Pass: $32.
- General Admission: $24.
Chicago Residents
- All Access Pass: $32.

How to Get Discounted Tickets to the Field Museum
There are a few ways to save on Field Museum tickets:
- Membership — If you have a museum membership, you will get free entrance for you or your family all year around with conditions based on membership type.
- CityPass — This program allows you to get tickets to many of Chicago’s top-rated attractions, such as the Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, Art Institute Chicago, Museum of Science and Industry, Skydeck Chicago and the 360 Chicago Observation Deck, all for one low price. Prices for adults start at $109!
- GO Chicago — This program allows visitors to discover more than 25 amazing attractions in Chicago all using the Go Chicago Card for admittance. Visitors can customize their all-inclusive passes to cover anywhere from one to seven days.
- CityKey — Chicago residents who have been issued a CityKey Card are eligible for one free admission ticket per year using their CityKey Card.
- Free days — The Chicago Field Museum offers many free days throughout the year for Illinois residents only. These tickets are only available on-site and cannot be reserved. Free days cover general admission only. However, the discovery and all-access passes are available as a discounted add-on. - Museums for All — Illinois residents who have EBT (Link) or WIC cards can get a deeply discounted admission rate of only $3 per person (up to six people) by showing their Link or WIC card at the ticket counter through the Museums for All program.
- Active military discount — The Field Museum offers free general admission to all active military personnel. Military status ID is required.
- Teacher discount — All Illinois teachers in Pre-K through 12th grade schools receive free general admission to the Field Museum. Teacher ID is required.
- ASTC Travel Passport Program — This program allows members to receive free admission to science centers or museums that participate in the program. An ASTC program ID is required.
Special Exhibitions
The Chicago Field Museum often has special exhibitions that are ticketed in addition to the general admission to the museum. The exhibits are not permanent, but some may be on display for extended periods.
“The Story of SUE" is a popular exhibit, as well as the Egypt 3D: Secrets of the Mummies Exhibit.
The Field Museum also currently has a 3D Movie exhibition on Maximo, the Titanosaurus.
Other current exhibitions include The Machine Inside: Biomechanics, Underground Adventure and Cyrus Tang Hall of China.
Getting to the Field Museum
The Field Museum is located at 1400 South Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, Illinois. The museum can be accessed via car or bus with parking available in the Soldier Field North Garage, Museum Campus Parking, or the East Museum Lot. Both the east lot and parking garage charge $30 for a 12-hour pass. The east lot is where wheelchair accessible parking can be found.
Visitors can also walk or bike to the museum via the Chicago Lakefront Trail. Public bike racks are available at both entrances to the museum and visitors can even borrow bikes through the bike-sharing system, Divvy. A Divvy site is located on the southwest side of the Field Museum.
